P L Oliver Claims Third Victory in Four Starts

P L Oliver, a six-year-old gelding by Sportswriter, secured his third win in his last four starts by taking the conditioned feature pace at Flamboro Downs on Wednesday, November 27.

Driver Travis Henry guided P L Oliver from the inside post, ensuring a strong position early. They set fractions of :27.2 for the first quarter and :57.3 for the half-mile. Pressure came from Better Be Gouda, driven by Oisin Quill, as they reached three-quarters in 1:26.1. Despite the challenge, P L Oliver maintained his lead into the stretch. Coligny Hanover, driven by Darryl Thiessen, made a late bid up the passing lane, and Better Be Gouda continued pressing, but P L Oliver proved resilient, clinching victory by half a length in 1:55.4. Coligny Hanover finished second, with Better Be Gouda taking third.

This win marked P L Oliver's 25th career victory, pushing his earnings past $250,000. He has shown impressive form at Flamboro Downs, winning three recent starts while moving up in class, with his only recent loss occurring at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The gelding was claimed by Alan Janik and Sally Charlton from his former owner and trainer, Matt Dupuis, after this performance.

Flamboro Downs will resume racing on Saturday, November 30, starting at 6:35 p.m. EST, with the card featuring a Preferred Trot event.
