Penzance Hanover Surges to Victory at Dover

In a thrilling race at Bally's Dover on Thursday night, Penzance Hanover emerged victorious in the prestigious $37,162 Blue Hen/Open Handicap Pace. The seasoned duo of Mack and Penzance Hanover took charge right from the start, propelling themselves off the gate with vigour.

As the race unfolded, Energetic Hanover surged ahead, setting a brisk pace and claiming the lead by the first quarter, clocked at a swift :26.3. Meanwhile, Penzance Hanover, the eventual winner, tactfully bided his time in the pocket, conserving energy for the perfect moment to make his move.

The middle stages of the race saw Baba Oriley and Belmont Royale N making strategic moves, challenging the frontrunner Energetic Hanover. With the three-quarters passed in a blistering 1:23.2, Penzance Hanover, the crowd favourite at 6-5 odds, patiently awaited his opportunity to shine.

In a masterful display of skill, driver Art Stafford Jr guided Penzance Hanover along the pylons in the final stretch, surging ahead to clinch victory by a commanding length and a half. The ten-year-old pacer completed the mile in 1:52, securing his second consecutive win in impressive fashion. Jacks Shadow N put in a strong finish to claim second place, while Mack held his ground along the inside to secure third.

Penzance Hanover, a son of Somebeachsomewhere out of Platinum Hanover, boasts an impressive record under the ownership, training, and driving of Arthur Stafford Jr from Felton, DE. The victory paid out at $4.40, capping off a remarkable evening of racing at Bally's Dover.
