Flavien Prat continued his remarkable year by breaking the single-season stakes record and tying the graded stakes record during events at Aqueduct on December 7. The panel of racing experts recognised his achievement by naming him Jockey of the Week for the period from December 2 to December 8. This award acknowledges significant accomplishments by members of the Jockeys' Guild, representing over 1,050 active, retired, and permanently disabled jockeys across the United States.
In the Grade III Go for Wand, Prat rode Tizzy in the Sky for Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher. After starting in an inside post and tracking the leader, Tizzy in the Sky pulled ahead at the stretch and held off the competition to secure victory by half a length. Following the race, Prat expressed gratitude for the successful season and reflected on his record-tying accomplishment.
Prat quickly surpassed the stakes record in the Grade II Remsen Stakes while riding two-year-old Poster, trained by Eoin Harty. Despite a slow start, Prat guided Poster to a thrilling win by a nose after taking the lead in mid-stretch. With this victory, Prat set the single-season stakes record, surpassing Irad Ortiz Jr.'s previous mark of 79, and tied Jerry Bailey's record of 55 graded stakes.
Prat's outstanding year included setting a stakes record at Saratoga and earning victories at the Breeders' Cup. With multiple opportunities remaining in the season, he aims to continue his success in pursuit of an Eclipse Award. Other Jockey of the Week nominees included Florent Geroux, Juan J. Hernandez, Ramon Vasquez, and Hall of Famer John Velazquez.
