Progress Pace Heats Up as Grand Circuit Returns to Dover Downs

This Week on the Grand Circuit: 

The Grand Circuit shifts its focus to Dover Downs on Thursday, November 21, for the $35,000 Progress Pace elimination for three-year-old open pacers. Eleven contenders will battle for eight coveted spots in the final, scheduled for November 27 at Bally’s Dover.  

Recent Highlights: 

In last week’s action, Hunter Oakes trainees dominated the $248,472 Matron Stakes for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings at Dover. Supplemental entry Dandy Ideal led the field of five to victory on Thursday, November 14.  

Grand Circuit Standings: 

The 2024 standings, based on a points system, currently have the following leaders:  

- Drivers: 1. Dexter Dunn (1,789 points); 2. Yannick Gingras (982.5); 3. David Miller (855).  

- Trainers: 1. Ron Burke (1,327 points); 2. Ake Svanstedt (971); 3. Marcus Melander (640).  

- Owners: 1. Burke Racing Stable (311 points); 2. Weaver Bruscemi (255.6); 3. Determination (237).  

Looking Ahead: 

Next week, Grand Circuit action intensifies with major events at The Meadowlands and Dover Downs. The Meadowlands will host the FanDuel finals for older pacers and trotters alongside the Fall Four championships for two-year-olds. Meanwhile, Dover Downs will stage the highly anticipated Progress Pace final for three-year-old open pacers.
