He was a loving father to Laura Crombie (Markus), Jennifer Reidpath (Jim), and Julie, as well as a devoted stepfather to Debbie. His grandchildren, Summer, Alexis, and Rachel Crombie, Carter, Haylie, Dylan, Rylie Reidpath, and Nevaeh Greenbird, held a special place in his heart.

He was a dear brother to Donna Meriam, Dianne Scott, Judy Steuer, Sandy Fielder (Carman), Leroy Meriam (Yvette), Jackie Lake (Dave), and Kim Austin (Ron). Sam was predeceased by his parents, John (Jack) and Barbara (Barb) Meriam, his brothers Ken ("Sug") in 2023 and Michael in 1964, as well as brothers-in-law Ian Scott in 2020 and John Steuer in 2003.

Known for his passion for sports, Sam had a deep love for training and racing horses, a hobby he enjoyed immensely throughout his life.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sam's life on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 3–5 p.m. in the Trafalgar Room at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown (905-877-3631).
