The 'TDN Rising Star' DISARM (c, 4, Gun Runner–Easy Tap, by Tapit) was a key participant in the Triple Crown chase of the previous year, placing first in the GII Louisiana Derby and third in the GIII Lexington S. before finishing fourth in the GI Kentucky Derby behind Mage (Good Magic). He finished fourth in the GII Jim Dandy S. once more and, in his most recent start, finished second in the GI Travers S. after pursuing the champion 3-year-old male Arcangelo (Arrogate).
Sitting on the sidelines, the homebred made a comeback on Saturday against a mere three opponents. He leads from the start and puts his opponents to sleep with lead-in fractions of 25.74 and 52.01, betting down to 1-9. As the true running started in the last furlong, Onthestage (Quality Road) made a brief danger, but Disarm proved up to the challenge and held off his opponent to win by 1 1/2 lengths in his return. In addition to Disarm's 2-year-old full-brother, a yearling Silver State filly, and another full-brother born this year, Easy Tap is already in charge of Total Tap (Candy Ride {Arg}), MSP, $221,112 and Tap Daddy (Scat Daddy), Ch. Stayer-Ven, SW & GSP-USA, MSW-Ven, $252,384. $1,077,120 is the lifetime record for GISP, 10-3-3-2.
