Sauble Ace triumphed at Georgian Downs

The four-year-old pacing harness horse Sauble Ace (by Betterthancheddar) claimed victory in the $12,000 feature race on Tuesday evening at Georgian Downs.

From the start, Century Inspector took the lead from the far outside post, setting the early pace with fractions of 27.2, 56.1, and 1:24.1. Sauble Ace, driven by Jason Ryan, initially settled into a favourable pocket trip. It wasn't until the final turn that Sauble Ace made his move. With a strong 29-second final quarter, Sauble Ace surged past Century Inspector to win in 1:53.3. Century Inspector, driven by Bradley Harris, held on for second, while Bettor B Sirius (Tyler Moore) closed late but finished third by a nose.

Sauble Ace secured his third win of the year and his tenth-lifetime victory, marking back-to-back wins at Georgian Downs. Trainer Otis Hall now has 13 wins for the year and is approaching $100,000 in earnings for the third consecutive year.

Jason Ryan also had a successful evening, securing another win with the two-year-old pacing colt Officersoldierboy (by Mcwicked).

Brett MacDonald was the other driver to achieve a double victory on the card. He first guided St Lads Flirt (by Camluck) to his fourth win in five starts and then drove Crosscut (by McArdle) to his third win of the year, with a season-best mile of 1:55.

Live harness racing continues at Georgian Downs on Saturday, August 3, with the first post scheduled for 7:15 p.m. EDT.
