Spun From Magic 'Magical' In Western Fair Finale

The Cassidy Schneider-trained Spun From Magic ($20) made history in the Tuesday, May 28 evening finale and featured a $9,500 conditioned trot at The Raceway at Western Fair District. The seven-year-old horse stunned the field at 9-1 odds and defeated the favourite Made Of Magic in the stretch.

Using panels in :29 and :59.1, Natasha Day and Spun From Magic took the lead early on. The two continued to dominate, but at the three-quarters mark in 1:28.2, the bookmakers' selection, Tyler Borth's Made Of Magic, grabbed possession of the timer from the outside. Made Of Magic and Spun From Magic battled it out in the final stretch, but Spun From Magic prevailed by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:58.3. Donald Rankin's Workinitonbroadway completed the top three.

The son of Kadabra by the Muscle Mass mare Im A Munchie Girl is owned by Colonel Schneider Jr. Spun From Magic secured his 17th career victory and fourth of the year after 14 starts. He's made 105 trips to the track in his lifetime and has banked $132,810.
