The 2024 Alberta Sires Stakes season wraps up this Saturday, Nov. 2, at Century Mile with four divisional championships in the Challenge of Champions Super Finals, totalling $320,000 in purses. Starting in the seventh race, each $80,000 final will highlight Alberta’s top contenders.
In the two-year-old filly division, unbeaten Custard Dolce seeks her eighth straight stakes victory, with trainer Jamie Gray’s Tornado Rain also entered. Winds Of Change-sired fillies, Mademechangemymind and Blowing Inthe Wind, add intrigue as they challenge the favourite.
Race eight will feature standout two-year-old colts like Outlawminutbyminut, who just set a new track record at Century Downs, and Custers Stand, coming off a two-race win streak under trainer Marie Brooking.
The three-year-old filly final includes the formidable Outlawguns N Roses, aiming for her sixth straight win, and rival Byby Baby Byby, setting up an anticipated rematch. Spoiler contender Over Ice, with Brandon Campbell, rounds out the line-up.
Closing the stakes season, three-year-old colts and geldings will compete in the tenth race. Grey Horizon, with eight wins and over $200,000 earned this season, headlines, alongside Rum N Custard and Alberta Marksman winner Tzilacatzin.
Races three through six will feature $15,000 consolation events, and the 11-race card will begin at 7:30 p.m. MDT.
