Sydney Bowler's Dramatic Incident Delays Magic Millions Guineas Race

The Magic Millions Guineas race was delayed when the favorite, Sydney Bowler, got trapped under the starting gates. It happened as Sydney Bowler had trouble getting into the gates. Stewards had to work hard to free the stuck horse, and they had to dismantle the gates.

Emma Freedman from Channel 7 expressed concern for Sydney Bowler's well-being. She speculated that removing a blindfold too soon might have made the horse agitated. Chairman of stewards, Joshua Adams, said the horse had minor lacerations but was sedated and taken to an equine specialist. Trainer John O'Shea said the horse would spend the night in the hospital and hoped for his return to racing.

The race was rescheduled for 5:30 pm AEST, and Abounding won it, followed by Sovereign Fund and Flying Trapeze.

Gai Waterhouse celebrated her fifth victory in the $3 million 2YO Classic with Storm Boy. The colt, purchased for $460,000 in the previous year's Magic Millions yearling sale, remained unbeaten in three starts and looked set to become the favorite for the Group 1 Golden Slipper. Waterhouse had a remarkable day with three wins.
