The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) will attend the inaugural California Crown Day at Santa Anita Park on Saturday, Sept. 28, to present awards and promote horse welfare, the non-profit announced on Wednesday.
During the Unzip Me Stakes, presented by TAA, winning connections will receive a branded blanket and gift bag in the winner’s circle. Additionally, a check presentation will be made by 1/ST in support of the aftercare organisation.
"This event highlights the best of California racing, and our partnership with the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance gives race fans and participants a valuable chance to learn about supporting Thoroughbreds after their racing careers," said Nate Newby, general manager of Santa Anita Park.
TAA will also present the Best Turned-Out awards, sponsored by LRF Cares, for the entire race card.
"We are excited to be part of the first-ever California Crown," said Emily Dresen, director of funding & events at TAA. "Presenting the Best Turned-Out awards with LRF Cares helps emphasise the importance of horse care both on and off the track."
