Tattoo Artist Relocates for 2025 Breeding Season

The connections of two-time O'Brien Award winner Tattoo Artist have revealed that the stallion will have a new home for the 2025 breeding season. On Monday, October 7, Winbak Farm of Canada and the Tattoo Artist Syndicate announced that Tattoo Artist, p, 2, 1:52s; 3, 1:48.2s; 1:47.1s ($3,272,258), will be standing in Ontario next year.

Throughout his career, Tattoo Artist recorded 40 wins and 19 second-place finishes from 96 starts. He excelled on all track sizes—half-mile, five-eighths, seven-eighths, and mile—setting numerous track and stakes records along the way.

"One of the most thrilling moments was his victory in the Canadian Pacing Derby," Cherry recalled. "He came first-over from seventh, pacing his back half in :52.1 to win. It still gives me goosebumps."

Tattoo Artist is out of Breeders Crown champion Stylish Artist, p, 2, 1:52.4f; 3, 1:51 ($940,022), and his half-sister Shabby Chic, p, 2, 1:55.2h; 3, 1:54.1h ($233,650), was Delaware Filly of the Year. He shares his maternal line with standouts like Idyllic, p, 2, 1:51s; 3, 1:50f ($1,313,241), and Idyllic Beach, p, 2, 1:50.3s ($1,252,272). He is the fastest and richest son of Hes Watching, p, 2, 1:50f; 3, 1:46.4 ($1,129,215).

Tattoo Artist frequently displayed his exceptional speed, pacing his final quarter in :25.4 or faster on 10 occasions. He earned O’Brien Awards as the 2020 Three-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year and the 2023 Older Pacing Horse of the Year.

At age two, he captured two Ontario Sires Stakes Gold legs and the Super Final. As a three-year-old, Tattoo Artist claimed five Ontario Sires Stakes Gold legs and a Simcoe Stakes division. He was runner-up in the prestigious North America Cup to Tall Dark Stranger. His career highlights also include wins in the Breeders Crown elimination, Canadian Pacing Derby elimination and final, Dayton Pacing Derby, Joe Gerrity Jr. Memorial, and Jim Ewart Memorial.

"He's a striking individual who delivered many breathtaking victories throughout his career," said Pat Woods, Manager of Winbak Farm of Canada. "He’ll be an excellent choice for Ontario breeders."

Tattoo Artist's first foals are expected in 2025, following his initial season standing in New Jersey in 2024.

"We’re excited to work with Tattoo Artist and will be hand-selecting some of our best mares to breed to him," said Jack Burke, Winbak Farm’s General Manager.

Tattoo Artist will stand for a stud fee of $7,500.
