Ag Bullet is poised to secure another victory in the G3, $100,000 Monrovia Stakes for experienced fillies and mares at Santa Anita's one-of-a-kind hillside turf track this Saturday.
Ag Bullet made a triumphant comeback after an extended break, emerging victorious in the exclusive Wishing Well Stakes held on the unique hillside course over a distance of approximately 6 ½ furlongs on Feb. 25. This marked her debut under the guidance of trainer Richard Baltas. Last year, the daughter of Twirling Candy, at the tender age of 3, achieved a remarkable feat by winning her first race on the turf chute in January. She then went on to triumph in the one-mile Lady of Shamrock on the lush green turf under the guidance of her previous trainer, George Papaprodromou.
Ag Bullet took a break from the action after making its way to Turfway Park last March and securing a respectable fifth place in the Bourbonette Oaks, a 1 1/16 mile race on synthetic turf. Calvin Nguyen and Joey C. Tran are the proud owners of Ag Bullet, a remarkable racehorse with an impressive record of 5 wins, 3-0-0, and a total earnings of $170,300. Umberto Rispoli, who rode to victory on the Wishing Well, will once again be in the saddle on Saturday.
Also leaving the Wishing Well are Graceland Grey, who came in second, Miss Lizzy, who finished in third, and Ice Dancing, who claimed the fifth spot.
