The Oak Grove Open Trot is won by Just For Trix's team

Just For Trix, they had a solid start to the season, even though they faced some tough competition and had to work hard to secure the win in the $40,541 Open Trot at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel on Tuesday afternoon (April 2).

Commencing at post number two, Just For Trix (Tyler Shehan) gracefully glided away from the starting gate, positioning themselves in fifth place. Meanwhile, Yo Beth D (Verlin Yoder) made a determined effort to secure the lead, resulting in a swift first-quarter time of 26.4. Beth D faced some initial pressure near the stands until Winnerup (John MacDonald) started to back off after a:56 half, while Shehan guided Just For Trix off the inside position.

Just For Trix steadily closed the gap on Yo Beth D, reaching three-quarters in 1:24.3. With ease, Just For Trix smoothly took the lead as they navigated the final turn. Sinatra De Vie, piloted by Jimmy Whittemore, made a remarkable surge from the rear of the field and challenged Just For Trix in the final stretch. However, Just For Trix displayed unwavering determination and crossed the finish line first, triumphing by a margin of 1-1/2 lengths in an impressive time of 1:54.1. Kings County, driven by Anthony MacDonald, strategically positioned himself in the pocket to secure a commendable third place finish. Meanwhile, Usosweet Blue Chip, skillfully manoeuvred by Atlee Bender, expertly navigated through traffic to claim a well-deserved fourth-place position.
