The Red Mile Welcomes Two Key Appointments

Lexington's Red Mile, a hub for harness racing, has recently made significant additions to its team.

Emily Gaskin, a University of Kentucky graduate with a background deeply rooted in harness racing, is now the Director of Sponsorships. Gabe Prewitt, Vice-President of Racing at The Red Mile, expressed his delight at having Gaskin onboard, highlighting her diverse skill set in marketing, promotions, and journalism.

In her new role, Gaskin expressed her excitement, stating,

"Joining The Red Mile team is truly an honour. This historic racetrack, boasting 150 years of legacy, holds countless memorable moments in harness racing. Being a part of its future is a dream come true".

Having previously served as Race Marketing Manager and Commentator at Harrah's Hoosier Park, Gaskin will continue to support her former workplace when required while focusing on her role at The Red Mile, allowing her more time with her family.

Joining Gaskin is Scott Freeman, a seasoned professional with over four decades of experience in the industry, appointed as the Track Superintendent. Prewitt praised Freeman's expertise and crucial role in ensuring a safe and top-notch racing surface for the upcoming events at The Red Mile.

Freeman, known for his meticulous approach, shared his perspective on the challenges ahead, emphasising the need for constant vigilance given the unpredictable weather conditions. His extensive experience with various track surfaces positions him well to maintain The Red Mile's iconic clay oval and training track, catering to the needs of both seasoned professionals and up-and-coming talents.

As the excitement builds towards The Red Mile's upcoming meeting starting on July 21 and culminating in Grand Circuit week in early October, Freeman's addition alongside established track masters Greg and Dan Coon promises a thrilling season ahead.
