In his second start of the year, harness racing millionaire Fashion Frenzie (Archangel) easily upset $36,000 Preferred Trot company on Monday, May 20, at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
After settling in third place after the first turn, Louis-Philippe Roy quickly moved him forward, and he was at the front before the half. The gelding led without opposition into the last turn and opened up a five-length lead in the final stretch before closing late to win in 1:51.3 by a final margin of three and a half lengths. Moni (James MacDonald) appears to have closed from last to second. Dagfin Henriksen's Perfetto came in third.
With the victory, Fashion Frenzie's bankroll grew to $1,181,467 and his career totalled a quarter of a century in 42 races. Last week, the gelding trained by Richard Moreau made his seasonal debut, coming in fourth. Last season, he captured the Earl Rowe Invitational at Georgian Downs and triumphed five times out of nine occasions in the top-level trot. He has won the O'Brien Award thrice. Six-year-old Ecurie Francis Richard, Pierre Guillemette, Sylvain Richard, and Gestion Mario Bourgea of Stanbridge East are joint owners.
On the card, Richard Moreau finished a training hat trick. Additionally, he triumphed with Jj Tommy (Tobago Cays, MacDonald, 1:51.2) and Stonebridge Bravo (Muscle Mass, James MacDonald, 1:53.2).
Woodbine Mohawk Park will have racing on Thursday, May 23 at 7:10 p.m. EDT.
