Tobins Brownie’s performance in Preferred

Charlottetown, Pennsylvania, on a night full of like-bred winners at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, Tobins Brownie (Stonebridge Terror) made her way to the winner's circle in the Thursday evening featured pace.

As a trainer-driver, David Dowling made a double feature win that evening as Tobins Brownie won the $3,700 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace for the second time. With split times of :30, :59.4, and 1:29.1, the six-year-old mare grabbed the lead from post 4 with a strong start to the race.

Rosetown Mary (driven by Corey MacPherson) came charging up in the last quarter, but Tobins Brownie maintained her ground in a:27.2 stretch to win in 1:56.3 for owners Brittany Dowling, Sandra Weeks, and Erroll Burgoyne. In second place was Share The Moment (Gilles Barrieau), followed by Rosetown Mary.

Earlier on the card, Dowling won when Elm Grove Redwine, a pupil of Stonebridge Terror, rode a pocket ride to victory in race 4. In the $2,750 race, the four-year-old mare chased down the leader and favourite, Adam Merner, and held off a closing Redland Peaches (Mike McGuigan).

Nine-year-old Elm Grove Misty, a Stonebridge Terror mare, kicked off the program with an exciting rush to win in 1:58 for trainer-driver Dave Kelly Sr. and Springvale owner Charlene Cypher. The free-legged lass went off at 12-1 odds, earning $494.25 in addition to a $1 exactor payout.
