Track Expansion Of Grand River Raceway

Grand River Raceway celebrates a momentous occasion with the unveiling of its new five-eighths-mile racetrack, a significant achievement in the venue's history. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on June 12th, welcomed key stakeholders, community members, and racing enthusiasts, marking the culmination of a transformative project that began in the winter of 2023.

The completion of the expansion, delivered on schedule and within budget, underscores the dedication and collaboration of all involved parties. This ambitious endeavour was made possible through the generous support of Ontario Racing and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG). The track's innovative design, crafted by the esteemed Greg and Dan Coon, incorporates cutting-edge racetrack engineering, promising an unparalleled racing experience.

The inaugural night on June 5th witnessed a remarkable milestone for Grand River Raceway, with a record-breaking wagering of $404,000 across a thrilling 10-race card. This achievement highlights the track's potential to invigorate the local racing scene and attract widespread attention from the broader racing community.

Already earning accolades from drivers and trainers for its swift surface and contemporary layout, the new track has garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback. Doug McCaig, Facilities Manager, lauds the dedicated efforts of the team and contractors, whose hard work has yielded significant success.

Moreover, beyond enhancing the racing experience, the five-eighths mile track serves as a valuable training ground for local horsemen, reducing the need to travel to Woodbine Mohawk Park for training sessions and expanding accessibility for the racing community.

Grand River Raceway expresses profound gratitude to all contractors and workers whose expertise and commitment brought this project to fruition. Special recognition is extended to Doug McCaig for his exceptional leadership throughout the construction phase.

Looking ahead, Grand River Raceway reaffirms its commitment to delivering top-tier racing and training facilities, fostering a dynamic and competitive environment for all involved.
