On Sunday, prominent trainers Chad Brown, John Ortiz, and Brad Cox provided updates on their recent winners from Saratoga's latest race card.
Chad Brown celebrated the victory of Klaravich Stables’ Idea Generation, who secured a 96 Beyer Speed Figure with her win in the Grade 2 Flower Bowl, a 1 3/8-mile turf race for older fillies and mares. Ridden by Florent Géroux, she won by 1 1/2 lengths, finishing in 2:18.97. Brown expressed pride in her performance and noted that McKulick, who finished third, also ran well but couldn’t match Idea Generation's speed. Brown is still considering future plans for both horses.
Brown’s success at the meet continues, with 12 graded stakes wins and his seventh training title at Saratoga confirmed with just two days left in the meet. He also mentioned Zulu Kingdom, a recent European import, who is set to head to the Pilgrim (G2) at Belmont at the Big A next month following his victory on With Anticipation stakes.
John Ortiz highlighted the exciting return of Brightwork, a Grade 1 winner who posted an 89 Beyer in the Prioress after a nearly 10-month layoff. Ortiz praised her effort as she won by a neck, demonstrating her athleticism under jockey Luis Sáez. Brightwork, who has remained undefeated in five sprint starts, could be pointed toward the Raven Run (G2) at Keeneland later this fall.
Ortiz also provided updates on upcoming prospects, including young horses like Quietside, who ran well in the Spinaway and may be aimed at the upcoming Alcibiades (G1).
Brad Cox reported on his talented 2-year-old Immersive, who won Spinaway (G1) with an 84 Beyer, showing great racing class despite a challenging start. Her performance suggests she is ready for longer distances, and Cox aims to enter her in the Alcibiades as well.
Cox’s other impressive performer, Federal Judge, earned a 95 Beyer in his optional claimer victory and could join Immersive at Keeneland, potentially for the Phoenix (G2).
Additionally, Cox mentioned West Hollywood, who took the Saranac (G3), and that both he and Take Me To Church came out of their races well, with plans still to be finalized for their next starts.
In summary, the updates signify a strong end to the Saratoga meet for each trainer, with several high-calibre horses anticipated to continue their journeys in upcoming races at Keeneland and beyond.
