Unexpected Victory: The Great Reset Shocks Competitors in Western Fair Preferred Race

In a surprising turn of events at The Raceway at the Western Fair District, The Great Reset, considered the second longest shot in the $11,000 Preferred Trot on Tuesday (Feb. 13) evening, emerged as the unexpected winner.

Taking charge of the race was Treasured Tee, skilfully driven by Travis Henry, who assumed the role of pacesetter for the entire mile. Meanwhile, guided by trainer Lorne House, The Great Reset positioned himself in fourth place after the swift :27.3 opening panel. Sensing an opportunity, House orchestrated a strategic move, pulling his talented charge to the outside and steadily advancing towards the front during the second half of the race.

By the time they reached the half in :58.1, The Great Reset had comfortably settled into the pocket, ready to make his move. Approaching the three-quarters mark at 1:28.1, The Great Reset faced a formidable challenge from the leading Treasured Tee as they entered the final stretch. Undeterred, The Great Reset unleashed a burst of speed in the last panel, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:59.2, securing victory by three-quarters of a length.

Treasured Tee valiantly finished in second place, while Tyler Borth, driving Bucktober, completed the triactor. The Great Reset, a four-year-old chestnut gelding sired by Resolve and out of Dont Talk Back, is proudly owned by Lorne House and Chantal Ruijs. This season, he has showcased his prowess by winning three out of his five starts.

Throughout his career, The Great Reset has made an impressive 45 starts, capturing the winner's circle on nine occasions and accumulating a total of $115,785 in earnings. Despite being considered a long shot at odds of 8-1, The Great Reset defied expectations and rewarded his supporters with a generous return of $17.50 for a win.
