Woodbine Entertainment has welcomed Juan Meza, a seasoned track superintendent, as a Racing Surfaces Consultant for Woodbine Racetrack.
Meza brings over 20 years of experience as the former track superintendent at Golden Gate Fields, which closed earlier this year. During his tenure, Meza gained extensive expertise with Tapeta (All-Weather) surfaces, similar to the synthetic track installed at Woodbine. His work with Tapeta Footings, the surface manufacturer, further bolsters his credentials.
Bill Ford, Executive Vice President of Racing at Woodbine Entertainment, emphasized the importance of safety:
"The safety and well-being of both our equine athletes and human participants is our top priority. We are pleased to have Mr. Meza available to assist in maintaining the highest safety standards. We will continue collaborating with the HBPA and AGCO to ensure optimal conditions for everyone involved."
Meza will partner with Ryan Stafford, Director of Racing Surfaces, to maintain the integrity of the Tapeta surface and support the efforts of the Racing Surfaces team.
