Woodmere Ideal Art dominated the feature race at Red Shores

Woodmere Ideal Art (by Articulator) dominated the feature race at Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway, leading from start to finish.

Driven by Jason Hughes and trained by Sifroi Melanson for owner Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakeburn, N.B., Woodmere Ideal Art began strongly from post 5, setting a blazing pace with a :27.1 opening quarter. The gelding maintained his advantage with fractions of :57.4 for the half and 1:27.2 for three-quarters.

Smooth Lou, driven by Corey MacPherson, made a late charge but was forced to settle for second, finishing half a length behind Woodmere Ideal Art with a final time of 1:56.3. Sauble Attack (Ken Murphy) took third place.

In the race 13 finale, six-year-old Noah Oakes of Warren Grove celebrated his first career win as nine-year-old pacer Legendary Ron (Damian MacLellan) triumphed with a time of 2:00.3.

Corey MacPherson had a standout evening, scoring a driving triple with victories from Dunsan Harry (1:58.1) for trainer Saul Lanigan, Here Comes Emmett (2:01.3) for Melvin Gamester, and Miss Dutton (1:57.1) from the Kuri White Stable.

Live harness racing returns to Red Shores Charlottetown on Thursday at 6 p.m.
