Workslikeacharm Triumphs in Dover

Tim Tetrick skillfully guided Workslikeacharm, owned by Canadians, to achieve a lifetime mark of 1:57.3 in the $69,189 final of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund (DSBF) late closer for three-year-old male trotters at Bally’s Dover on Tuesday night (March 26).

LG's Jaxon, entering as the 4-5 favourite, took an early lead and set fractions of :27.3, :58, and 1:27. LG's Bluestone applied moderate pressure on the first turn, with Jetsam following closely behind and Workslikeacharm patiently positioned third in the outside lane. As they entered the home stretch, Workslikeacharm skillfully manoeuvred through congested traffic and surged past LG's Jaxon to secure victory by a neck. LG's Bluestone finished strongly for second place, while LG's Jaxon settled for third.

Jim King Jr. oversees the training of Workslikeacharm, who completed a sweep of the three-week series, on behalf of owner Brett MacDonald from Freelton, Ontario.

In another event, Manatlas capitalized on a ground-saving trip to secure an unexpected victory in the $35,135 Open Handicap Trot.

Last Glow, a repeat winner, faced early pressure as they reached the opening quarter in :27.3, with Speed Away making a break in front of the stands. Last Glow managed to clear and maintain the lead through the :57 half, while Muscle Dynasty steadily advanced on the outside. Manatlas patiently followed from a pocket trip, tracking the leaders closely as Last Glow reached the three-quarters in 1:25.1. In the stretch, Manatlas found an opening along the pylons, accelerating late to win by a neck in 1:55. The Fast Lane rallied to take second place, with Crystal Fashion finishing third.

Rising in rank after securing consecutive victories, Manatlas brought in a payout of $51 for a $2 win ticket. This eight-year-old E L Titan gelding is under the ownership of Legacy Racing Of Delaware, Reginald Hazzard, and Gary Calloway. Montrell Teague was at the reins for the Wayne Givens-trained competitor.

In the upcoming event on Wednesday, Southwind Icenfire will face off against Jody and Misty Coast in the Mares Open Handicap Pace. Additionally, there's a Pick-4 carryover valued at $2,759 for Wednesday's matches. The season's culmination is scheduled for Thursday.
