Yank My Halo triumphs in $21,000 Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park

In a captivating $21,000 conditioned trot event held on Thursday, Feb. 29 at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Yank My Halo played a patient game on the pylons before seizing the opportunity to claim victory in an unexpected turn of events.

Under the expert guidance of driver Sylvain Filion, the Roger Mayotte-trained Yank My Halo positioned himself smartly right from the start, securing a comfortable second place as they navigated the initial turn and reached the opening marker in a brisk :27.4.

While Double Dippin, led by Louis-Philippe Roy, dictated the pace to the half-mile mark in :57.4, Kruise On Dover, driven by Doug McNair, made a bold move by launching an attack from the outside. Eventually, Kruise On Dover managed to clear the front, with Yank My Halo holding strong on the inside.

The race intensified as Msfrannie, under Brett MacDonald's guidance, and the favourite Mercutio, piloted by Tyler Jones, made their bids for glory. Despite briefly dropping back to fifth at the three-quarters in 1:26.4, Yank My Halo displayed exceptional manoeuvring skills, finding an opening in the stretch and clinching a thrilling victory by half a length in a time of 1:55.2. Kruise On Dover settled for second place, while Collector S, steered by James MacDonald, rounded out the top three.

Yank My Halo, a talented four-year-old gelding sired by Archangel-Sugarcane Yankee, is jointly owned by Just In Time Stable, Ben Mudry, and R A W Equine Inc. This triumph marked his first win in five starts this season and his fourth career victory out of 37 starts, boosting his total earnings to $76,810.

The surprising 8-1 victor, Yank My Halo, rewarded his supporters handsomely with a return of $17.00 for the win.
