A rescheduled harness racing card
Summerside, PE – Following the record-setting wager on Governor’s Plate night, Red Shores Summerside is set to host a rescheduled harness racing card on Monday evening (July 22) featuring the P.E.I. Colt Stakes for two and three-year-old trotters. Originally scheduled for July 16 but postponed due to severe rainstorms, this event promises an exciting lineup over 12 races starting at 6 P.M.
Highlights from the Rescheduled Card:
Race 2: The first $13,000 division for two-year-old trot colts includes Mile Hill Waylon starting his career with Governor’s Plate winning driver Gilles Barrieau from post 4. Trained by Paul Morrison and owned by John and Barbara Breau of Shediac Cape, N.B., his main rivals are morning line favourite Apollo Thirty Four (Marc Campbell) and Marcus Down Ridge (Clare MacDonald).
Race 9: The second $13,000 division for two-year-old trot colts features Fire The Rocket as the favourite. Trained by Ashley Gamester for owner Donald MacRae of Orwell, Jason Hughes will drive the EL Rocket colt. Top entries also include Dusty Lane Gus (Campbell) and West River Jet (Ken MacDonald).
Race 6: The $13,000 division for two-year-old trot fillies sees Supreme Rockette as the top choice from post 3 after winning her Atlantic Sires Stakes division at Truro Raceway on July 5. Trained by Mike McGuigan for owner Jamie Whalen of Avondale, her stablemate Oceanview Nikki (McGuigan) has posted 6 after also winning her career debut.
Race 7: The three-year-old colt trot division offers a $13,000 purse. Gettin Lit (McGuigan) leaves from post 2 as the favourite for owner Whalen, competing against Camco Laraido (Ken Murphy) and WL Roseys Rocket (Hughes).
Race 10: Rocket Blast garners top billing in this $13,000 division for three-year-old colt trotters. Driven by MacPherson for owner-trainer Carl Bagnall, the EL Rocket colt leaves from post 4, competing with Dusty Lane Darby (Adam Merner) and Howmac Swanky (McGuigan).
Race 4: In the lone $13,000 division for three-year-old trot fillies, Oceanview Daisy has rail control. Driven by Heffernan for trainer Myles Heffernan Jr. and owners Jackie Heffernan of Summerville and Barry MacLeod of Cardigan, she set a track record at Truro Raceway in her last start. She faces Dusty Lane Wee (Campbell) from post 3 and Gettin Tipsy (McGuigan) from post 4.
