Abbott, having experience in the bloodstock, will have another experience
Rick Abbott, a prominent figure in the bloodstock industry alongside his wife Dixie, has been selected as the judge for the 90th annual Maryland Horse Breeders’ Association Yearling Show. The event is scheduled to take place on July 21 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium.
Abbott brings a wealth of experience from his nearly 40-year tenure at Charlton Bloodstock, a respected entity in Pennsylvania known for selling yearlings, weanlings, and broodmares at major sales across the United States. Charlton Bloodstock was also renowned as one of the region's leading consignors.
In addition to their consignment activities, Charlton Bloodstock evolved into a breeding farm, providing boarding and foaling services for mares and, in its early years, standing stallions as well.
Reflecting on his career in bloodstock, Abbott expressed his honour at being chosen to judge the prestigious 90th anniversary of the MHBA Yearling Show, noting his extensive experience evaluating yearlings throughout his career.
The Abbotts retired from Charlton Bloodstock in 2016, marking the end of an era in their involvement with the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic yearling sale that fall.
