Aint She Special to Headline Main Event at Cal Expo
Fresh off her recent victory in the Filly and Mare Open last Sunday, Aint She Special is set to lead the main event on Friday evening at Cal Expo for fillies and mares, featuring a $6,000 conditioned pace.
The evening will showcase nine races under the Watch and Wager LLC banner, with the first post scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
Aint She Special, a five-year-old daughter of American Ideal out of the Camluck mare Im Just Special, is under the ownership of Dave Haness and is trained and driven by Luke Plano. With an impressive record of 17 wins out of 54 starts and earnings exceeding $80,000, she set a remarkable 1:52 mark last year at Running Aces.
Having been sent off at 4-1 in the previous race, Aint She Special seized an early lead from the No. 2 post and maintained control throughout, triumphing by three-quarters of a length in 1:58.4 over Give Me This Dance and Graceful Horizon.
Aint She Special is the 2-1 favourite on the morning line for the fifth race, starting from post eight. The competing horses include Starzznstripes, Wild Blue Wonder, Velocity McSweets, Divine Art, Wish I Had Thyme, Change Colors, and Crazy Cute.
Looking forward to Sunday night's 10-race card commencing at 5:05 p.m., A Major Omen aims for a third consecutive victory in the $8,000 Open Pace. The talented performer will be guided by Luke Plano from post nine, representing owner/trainer Gerry Longo.
