At Mohawk, Amigo Volo and Royal Regatta Continue Their Success

In the $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday evening, April 22, Tyler Borth overtook Meg Crone student Amigo Volo to win the seventh race in a row for the Father Patrick-Margarita Momma gelding. On the card, Royal Regatta increased his winning run to eight.

In the feature trot, Amigo Volo set panels in :26.3, :55.2, and 1:24.1, making every pole a winning one. Amigo Volo won by four lengths in 1:51.3 after posting a final panel in :27.2 without faltering. In second place was Southwind Coors (Chris Christoforou), and James MacDonald's Looks Like Moni completed the triactor.

David Miller and Pinske Stables share ownership of the $2,71,426 career winner from 91 races. This season, Amigo Volo has made seven starts and won five of them, improving his career record to 37-21-12. It cost him $4.20 to win.

At Mohawk on Monday evening, Royal Regatta (Mcardle-Mary O Mel) won his sixth consecutive race.

From post seven, James MacDonald and the Clifford McGuire student took the lead early, hitting the quarter first in :27.2. Parked out to the quarter, Lets Get Rocked (Travis Cullen) gained control to the :56.4 half. Bob McClure, the Highland Beach Boy, pulled ahead and forced Royal Regatta to back to third at the three-quarter mark in 1:25.2. Royal Regatta overtook his rivals in the final quarter sprint, clocking in at a time of :27.3, and won by one length in 1:53.2. Highland Beach Boy came in third, and Lets Get Rocked came in second.

The nine-year-old gelding, who won his 38th career race and eighth in 11 starts, is owned by Nancy McGuire. With 197 starts, he has $304,895 in earnings. It cost him $4.70 to win.
