Auction and Coach Clint Name to Honor Longtime Starlight Partner
A 2-year-old colt from Starlight Racing has been named Coach Clint (Laoban) in remembrance of the late Clinton Glasscock, a longstanding partner and St. Xavier High School tennis coach. Coach Clint will be travelling to Churchill Downs in May after working out with Brendan Walsh at Keeneland.
Starlight Racing is hosting an auction to allow individuals to bid on and acquire 10% of the horse's net earnings for the entire duration of the operation's ownership of the colt, with proceeds from the auction benefiting the Davenport Family Scholarship at Bellarmine University and the Bellarmine Men's Basketball Program, both passions of Glasscock.
Coach Clint's 10% owner will be eligible for racing benefits related to the real ownership experience offered by Starlight Racing. This exceptional chance not only recognizes Glasscock's lifelong dedication to charitable giving and community service, but also his love of horse racing.
The Davenport Derby Dash, which is scheduled for this Wednesday at the Audubon Country Club at 6 p.m., will have an auction.
Bellarmine University's head men's basketball coach, Scott Davenport, said of Clint: "His enthusiasm was contagious." “His creation of the Knight Club demonstrated his commitment to Bellarmine Basketball and helped us reach Division 1. His time spent coaching our players off the court demonstrated his concern for our young men's success after graduation. Every day is a day that we miss Clint.”
