Best performance of Running Aces
Running Aces witnessed remarkable performances despite challenging weather conditions during its Tuesday night harness racing program on June 4. Among the standout moments was Motley Ray's astonishing victory in a $6,100 conditioned pace event. Guided by driver Jacob Cutting, the 4-year-old son of A Rocknroll Dance broke the track record for 4-year-old stallions, clocking in at an impressive 1:52.2. This shattered the previous record of 1:54, held for eight years by Linkjack Hanover since 2016.
Cutting showcased exceptional skill, positioning Motley Ray in a winning spot early on by seizing the lead with a swift start. After relinquishing the lead to Topville Rocknluck, Cutting patiently bided his time in the pocket before making a decisive move in the stretch. Motley Ray unleashed a powerful surge in the final yards, clinching the victory and setting a new track record.
Owned by breeder Cheyenne Yoder and trained by Ariel Alvarez, Motley Ray notched his second win of the year and sixth career victory, paying out $3.80 to win. Meanwhile, PD The Big Easy, piloted by Mooney Svendsen, secured his third consecutive win in the $15,500 Open Handicap pace, clocking in at 1:53. This win marked his 25th career victory and pushed his career earnings past the $200,000 mark.
With drivers Mooney Svendsen and Luke Plano each securing doubles and trainer Bob Johnson also celebrating two wins on the Tuesday card, the night was filled with notable achievements. Live Racing enthusiasts can look forward to the return of action at Running Aces on Thursday night, June 6, featuring a twelve-race program and a Pick-5 Jackpot carryover of $9,463.22 starting in Race eight.
