Championship Final at Red Shores

SUMMERSIDE, PE – Following his triumph in the Nova Scotia leg of the Gamester-Pinkney Cup, harness racing driver Keith Legge is set to partner with race favourite Western Phil in the Championship Final on Tuesday evening (August 27) at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The western oval will host 14 races, kicking off at 6PM, with Legge and Western Phil positioned as the morning line favourites from post 7 in the Race 7 Gamester-Pinkney Cup Final. This series honours the legendary Atlantic Canadian horsemen Byron Gamester and Phil Pinkney and is open to drivers aged 30 and below with fewer than 100 lifetime wins.

The field of eight horses includes La Vie En Rose (driven by Kyle Desroche), Bohannon (Jaycob Sweet), JJ Patrick (Brady Sweet), Bump In The Road (Brett Leblanc), Bold N Bad (Brett Clow), Late Night Dealer (Keigan Madden), and Top Of Her Trade (Ryder Rennison).

Post-Time Picks suggest this race is wide open, with JJ Patrick being the favoured contender. "It’s anyone’s guess how this race will unfold in such a competitive field. Brady Sweet, who was the top driver in Charlottetown earlier this season, has the experience to position his horse well. We believe JJ Patrick has what it takes to win."

In the evening's top class, Race 13, Wind Blown (Paul Langille) aims to replicate his August 20 victory from post 1 for trainer Phil Sizer and owners Doug Polley Jr. and Doug Polley Sr. The free-legged son of Mach Three won that race by a comfortable margin in a time of 1:53.1. This week, he faces off against Rockin Corona (Darren Crowe), Tony Too Tall (Myles Heffernan Sr.), Woodmere Ideal Art (Jason Hughes), and American Risk (Corey MacPherson).
