Claiborne Farm Names Jacob West Manager of Bloodstock and Stallion Seasons
As the Stallion Seasons & Bloodstock Manager, Jacob West will join the Claiborne Farm team in October, the company announced in a release on Wednesday.
West, a native of Kentucky, received his degree in economics from the UK. His career in the Thoroughbred sector started at the bottom, where he worked as a groom in the broodmare division of Taylor Made Farm.
He went on to become the divisional yearling manager, the barn foreman, and finally the buyer account manager. West oversaw all facets of his clients' investment portfolios when he was employed at Taylor Made, including breeding and racing management, as well as public and private acquisitions.
Before starting his own company, West Bloodstock, he worked as Vice President of Bloodstock for Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners after joining Three Chimneys in 2016.
To assist clients at public auctions, West most recently established Highgate Sales Consignment with partner Jill Gordon. While at Claiborne, he will go on providing for his current clientele at West Bloodstock.
Bernie Sams, the longtime Stallion Seasons & Bloodstock Manager, will continue to work for Claiborne during this change.
“We are ecstatic to have Jacob join our team at Claiborne early this fall,” stated Walker Hancock, Claiborne President. “He brings a wealth of industry knowledge, sales expertise and will be a huge asset recruiting new stallions, selling seasons and helping clients manage their bloodstock portfolios.”
“I am fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of the Claiborne team,” West remarked. “The history and tradition of such an iconic farm is something I have marvelled at since I got into the horse industry. I look forward to building upon the tradition and being a part of their future.”
