Diamond Creek Farm announced on Monday, September 23, that 14-year-old trotting stallion Creatine will officially retire from breeding.
Due to ongoing health issues impacting his breeding abilities, the decision was made in consultation with industry experts and partners at Sugar Valley Farm to prioritize the welfare of the stallion.
Creatine (Andover Hall–Berry Nice Muscles) retired from racing in 2016 with over $2 million in career earnings. He claimed victories in prestigious races like the Breeders Crown, Kentucky Futurity, Allerage Trot, and two Group 1 events in Europe.
Among his top progeny are the exceptional Jujubee, the 2021 Dan Patch Trotter of the Year and Three-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year, who became the first sophomore trotting colt to clock multiple sub-1:50 wins. Other notable offspring include stakes winners Take All Comers ($895,240) and the three-year-old Hung Over ($407,928). In total, Creatine has sired 28 horses with earnings exceeding six figures.
"He had a tough start with an early injury that made him an unlikely prospect for most trainers. To see him go on and earn $2 million for the farm — he owes us nothing," said Adam Bowden of Diamond Creek. "He was our first homebred champion and will forever hold a special place in our hearts."
Creatine will now enjoy his retirement at Diamond Creek Farm, where he will serve as a teaser stallion and live out his days in comfort.
