Dancin Lou's offspring show their best

Bozak and Five Star Lou, both progeny of Dancin Lou, celebrated their successful harness racing debuts in the Prospect Series leg 4B for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings at Grand River Raceway on Wednesday, September 4.

In the first split, Bozak established an early lead and cruised to victory under Brett MacDonald. While he received some help from a break from a competitor on the backstretch, he faced fierce competition from Leave It To Lucan (Jason Ryan) and Babbling Billy (Sam Fillion) during the stretch run. Despite the intense finish, Bozak managed to hang on by a neck, finishing the race in 1:56. Leave It To Lucan took second, narrowly edging out Babbling Billy for third.

With this win, Bozak has now achieved consecutive victories after starting his career without a top-three finish in six races. Scott McEneny trains this gelding for owners Brenda and Mark Lane from Roseneath, along with Anthony Lane from Peterborough.

Five Star Lou also made it two wins in a row, holding off challengers in the second split. Travis Henry guided him first over as the race moved into the backstretch, allowing Five Star Lou to seize the lead from a breaking competitor on the final turn. Despite a strong push from pocket-sitter Up Front Bb (Louis-Philippe Roy), he came up just short, with Five Star Lou winning in 1:55.1.

After struggling to secure a cheque in his first three races at Mohawk Park, Five Star Lou found victory on August 27 under trainer Shawn Steacy's guidance. The $30,000 purchase from the London Classic sale has since earned $8,750 for his connections, Landmark 17 Racing Stable, Stephen Downey, Dan Mogridge, and Esa Lahtinen.

The upcoming card at Grand River Raceway on Friday, September 6, will showcase four $95,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold divisions—two for each gender of two-year-old trotters. The first post is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EDT.
