East Avenue Leads in First Pool of Kentucky Derby

The 2025 Kentucky Derby Future Wager opens its first pool on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at noon, showcasing East Avenue (Medaglia d’Oro) as a 10-1 individual favourite. The GI Breeders’ Futurity winner and TDN Rising Star tops a pool of 38 individual betting options, which also includes two broader categories: “All Fillies Foaled in 2022” and “All Other Colts and Geldings Foaled in 2022.”

Bettors can place $2 Win and Exacta wagers in Pool 1 until 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, just ahead of the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Del Mar. The Future Wager series will have six pools leading up to the Kentucky Derby, scheduled as follows: Pool 1 (Oct. 30-Nov. 1); Pool 2 (Nov. 28-Dec. 1); Pool 3 (Jan. 17-19); Pool 4 (Feb. 14-16); Pool 5 (March 14-16); and Pool 6 (April 3-5).

Notably, Pool 2 will also feature the Kentucky Derby Sire Future Wager, allowing fans to bet on sires with potential contenders, while Pool 5 will include the Longines Kentucky Oaks Future Wager, spotlighting early favourites for the premier race for 3-year-old fillies.
