A wave of excitement has swept across North America as the eclipse phenomenon takes hold. Please mark your calendars for Monday, April 8, when Canada will have the rare opportunity to witness its first total solar eclipse in over half a century (with the aid of unique eyewear).
Thoroughbreds are born during various celestial events, such as solar or lunar eclipses, adding a touch of uniqueness to their arrival. Ever since the 1990s, there has been a remarkable phenomenon involving a female named TOTAL ECLIPSE (Chi), who was born in Chile on July 2, 2019. This extraordinary individual came into existence during the occurrence of an eclipse. Winner on multiple occasions, Total Eclipse, is the offspring of Practical Joke and competes in the racing scene of Chile.
Undoubtedly, ECLIPSE, who entered the world on April 1, 1764, amidst a total solar eclipse in England, holds an unparalleled reputation. Eclipse, a magnificent chestnut horse and direct descendant of the Darley Arabian (a stallion that has dramatically influenced the bloodlines of 90 per cent of today's racehorses), emerged victorious in every single one of his 18 races.
As per Thoroughbred Heritage, he made his first appearance at the age of five after undergoing some intense and undisclosed training sessions. On May 3, 1769, he triumphed at Epsom, securing a 50-pound prize in back-to-back four-mile heats. Dennis O'Kelly, a keen gambler, famously declared, "Eclipse is in a league of its own, leaving all others far behind." Eclipse surpassed his rivals, and O'Kelly purchased 50% of Eclipse for 650 guineas.
