Emerging talents showcased at Pocono on Tuesday

Up-and-coming horses were featured in a quartet of $20,270 main events on a pleasant Tuesday afternoon at Pocono Downs in Mohegan, Pennsylvania.

In the male pace category, A Major Attitude, a Captaintreacherous gelding, pulled off a significant upset. He surged to the lead into the far turn and maintained his advantage to the finish line, setting a new mark of 1:53 for owner/trainer Howard Birney. A Major Attitude paid $48.80 for the win. Meanwhile, in the female pace, Miss Majesty extended her 2024 record to 6-5-1-0 with a victory in 1:54, closing with a last half of :55.4. Handled by Matt Kakaley, who secured four successes, Miss Majesty is trained by Nik Drennan and owned by Joseph Davino and Drennan Stable LLC.

The two trotting events did not distinguish between sexes. Both successful trotters were driven by Tyler Buter and sired by Southwind Frank: the gelding Chase Mateo, who set a new mark of 1:56.2 for trainer/owner Susanne Lopez, and the mare I Cant Refuse, trained by Linda Schadel and co-owned by her husband Tony Schadel, clocking in at 1:57.2.

The top five drivers at The Downs – Matt Kakaley, George Napolitano Jr., Anthony Napolitano, Tyler Buter, and Braxten Boyd – dominated the races, securing 13 out of the 15 victories among themselves. Each driver won at least twice during the event.

Racing will resume at Pocono on Saturday, March 30th, starting at 1 p.m., featuring two USD 17,000 trots and a duo of USD 16,500 paces as the highlights. Moving into April, each card will showcase series action, including Game Of Claims events for USD 10,000 base-tag pacers and USD 25,000 base-tag trotters. Additionally, there will be action for all four divisions of three-year-olds in the Bobby Weiss Series.
