Fashion Green will check his luck at Pennsylvania Sires Stakes
Fashion Green, who has started his career with three consecutive wins—including two stakes victories—will look to extend his unbeaten streak in the USD 160,336 Pennsylvania Sires Stakes leg for two-year-old colt and gelding trotters, known as the Florida Pro, on Friday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. The evening also features a USD 80,000 PA Stallion Series leg, with the first race scheduled for 5:10 p.m.
Fashion Green has shown impressive early form, winning a Sire Stakes split at The Meadows with a mark of 1:55.2 and a Pennsylvania All-Stars division at Pocono Downs. Despite his early success, trainer Jim Campbell, a new inductee into the U.S. Hall of Fame, notes that Fashion Green's journey to this point has not been without challenges.
Fashion Green, a homebred son of Greenshoe out of the Broadway Hall mare Fashion Athena, continues a strong family legacy. Fashion Athena, who earned $308,290 and won the Kentucky Futurity at two, also produced Millies Possesion, a standout who won her first nine races before finishing second in the Hambletonian Oaks.
Known for his cautious approach with young horses, Campbell has planned a measured campaign for Fashion Green. “I always take it step by step,” he explained. “We’ll continue on the PA Sires trail and see how things progress. There are major stakes races in the fall, but we’ll evaluate his condition as we go.”
Fashion Green will start from post six in race eight with Dave Palone driving.
The other division of the Florida Pro is Race Nine, which features local standout Wapiti Blue Chip. On July 12, Wapiti Blue Chip set a record as the fastest two-year-old gelding trotter ever at The Meadows, winning in 1:54.2. Braxten Boyd will again drive for trainer Mahlon Martin and owners Ashley Berslem, Steven Mullen, and Gregory Garton.
