Among the July grads who won first grade are Carson's Run, Candied, and Geaux Rocket Ride.
"We look forward to kicking off yearling sales season with another strong group of well-conformed, mature yearlings in July," said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning Jr. "The sale continues to produce remarkable performance numbers that cannot be overlooked by any serious buyer."
BloodHorse MarketWatch figures show that, among auctions that sold over 250 yearlings in 2019–21, The July Sale is once again recognized as the top major North American yearling sale in several performance categories. Except for the special Fasig-Tipton September Showcase, which took place in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the sale ranks second in terms of graded stakes winners and grade 1 winners sold, trailing only Fasig-Tipton's Saratoga Sale. Among the graduates of this sale's 2019 and 2021 iterations, 16% made at least $150,000 at the races—again, The Saratoga Sale's second-highest proportion among those who participated in these auctions.
Some of the recent graded stakes winners from this sale include Accidental Hero, Chop Chop, Danse Macabre, Stay Hot, Super Chow, and Three Technique. Grade 1-winning graduates from this sale include Carson's Run, Candied, and Geaux Rocket Ride.
This year's catalogue has the Freshman Sire Showcase (Hips 1-88), which is a feature of prior years that highlights the progeny of first-crop yearling sires. BloodHorse provides the Stallion Register pages for those stallions.
Yearlings by elite general sires Into Mischief, Quality Road, Goldencents, Practical Joke, Justify, Constitution, Uncle Mo, Munnings, and American Pharoah are also included in the catalogue.
"While much of the focus in July tends to be on the first yearlings of freshman sires, the proven sire representation this year is very strong," noted Browning.
