First Dawn: Collusion Illusion's Legacy Begins

Ballycroy Bloodstock in Loretto, Ontario, celebrated the arrival of the first foal sired by the Grade 1 champion Collusion Illusion on February 1, born by Law Abidin Annie. Law Abidin Annie, a daughter of Kentucky Derby victor Street Sense, is closely related to prominent racehorses, being a full sister to Sweet Swining, who placed in graded stakes, and a half-sister to Law Abidin Citizen, a winner of multiple graded stakes. This lineage extends to Grey Stakes (G3) and Black Gold Handicap victor Truth Of It All, as well as Grade 1 winner I Ain't Bluffing, marking a notable pedigree for the newborn filly.

The filly was bred by Dan Agnew, who previously co-owned Collusion Illusion during his competitive career. Collusion Illusion, a progeny of Twirling Candy and Natalie Grace (by First Dude), showcased exceptional talent, winning his initial two races as a 2-year-old, including the Best Pal Stakes (G2) at Del Mar. Trained by Mark Glatt, he continued to excel into his 3-year-old season, securing victories in the Laz Barrera Stakes (G3) and the Bing Crosby Stakes (G1), notably defeating Law Abidin Citizen, among others. He also placed third in the Malibu Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita against Charlatan and Express Train.

With a stud fee of $6,000, Collusion Illusion joins the roster at Ballycroy Bloodstock alongside Tamarkuz and the recent addition, Gufo, a three-time Grade 1 victor in New York, enhancing the stud farm's prestige and offering promising breeding prospects.
