Gimmie A Corona Sets a New Lifetime Record

The four-year-old mare, Gimmie A Corona (Control The Moment), achieved a new personal best time of 1:53.2, surpassing her previous record of 1:55.0 set at Georgian Downs last year. Under the skilled guidance of James Macdonald, she seized the lead early on, setting a swift opening quarter of 27.2. Maintaining her position down the backstretch, she hit the half-mile mark in 56.2. Gimmie A Corona led the race wire-to-wire, securing her first victory at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

This triumph marked Gimmie A Corona's 14th career win, adding to Meg Crone's two training successes for the day. James Macdonald clinched his third and final win of the day, earlier triumphing with Mass Market (Muscle Mass) in 1:56.1 and D A Lunchbox (Shadow Play) in 1:53.

Sylvain Filion also enjoyed a successful evening in the sulky, achieving a hat-trick of wins. He started the night strongly by winning the opener with Convoy Hall (Muscle Hall) and followed up with consecutive 7-1 upsets in races four and five.

In the fourth race, Mactacular (Tactical Landing) secured her maiden victory. Positioning herself fourth early on, she bided her time until making her move at the half-mile mark, clocking in at 1:00.3. Mactacular finished with a strong 57.0-second second half-mile, crossing the line a quarter of a length ahead.

Filion's third win of the night came in the fifth race with Yank My Halo (Archangel). The four-year-old gelding initially found space in the pocket, facing early challenges with a quick 27.4 opening quarter. Despite pressure from other horses down the stretch, Yank My Halo surged ahead to claim victory in 1:55.2.
