Gowestyounggrace Dominates at Fryeburg Fair

At the renowned Fryeburg Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 2, fans were treated to yet another stellar performance from Gowestyounggrace, the star of Maine’s three-year-old pacing fillies division. The filly, expertly driven by veteran reinsman Dave Ingraham, secured her 10th consecutive victory impressively.

Starting from post three, Gowestyounggrace controlled the race from start to finish. Setting steady fractions of :30, 1:01, and 1:31, she cruised home with a final time of 1:59.2, winning comfortably by 2-3/4 lengths. Owned, trained, and bred by Fred Ward Jr. and his wife Sharon, the daughter of Western Maverick and Gracie Gracie has been carefully managed throughout the season. With the lucrative sophomore finals at Bangor on Oct. 12 on the horizon, Gowestyounggrace has already earned nearly $200,000 in her career, boasting 16 wins from 23 starts.

Despite being the clear favourite for the upcoming finals, this $26,616 Maine Sire Stakes race was a non-wagering event. Pembroke Red, driven by Heath Campbell, took second place, while My Sweet Revenge, with Kevin Switzer Jr. in the bike, finished third.

In another division of the Maine Sire Stakes, Emma Rozze also delivered a wire-to-wire victory. The daughter of Artistic Fella and Pembroke Violet, driven by Heath Campbell, crossed the line in 1:58.4, winning by 6-1/2 lengths. Trainer Valerie Grondin, who bred and co-owns Emma Rozze with William Underhill, celebrated the filly’s first win in seven starts. Ghost Of You finished second, and Animore Sass placed third.

The Maine Sire Stakes action continues at the Fryeburg Fair with three-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Friday, Oct. 4, and sophomore trotters on Saturday, Oct. 5. The excitement builds toward the finals at Bangor Raceway on Saturday, Oct. 12, where four divisions of the three-year-old Maine Sire Stakes will be contested.
