Hot Girl Walk's First Stakes Victory at Del Mar

Bodexpress, a grade 1-winning son of Bodemeister, has celebrated a significant milestone with the victory of Hot Girl Walk in the Generous Portion Stakes at Del Mar on September 2. This impressive performance has made Hot Girl Walk Bodexpress' inaugural black-type stakes winner.

The homebred filly, owned by Richard Barton, tracked the early leaders before launching her move at the three-eighths pole. With jockey Antonio Fresu aboard, Hot Girl Walk took command at the quarter pole and skillfully manoeuvred back inside as she exited the turn. Ultimately, she crossed the finish line 1 1/4 lengths ahead of In the Air Tonight, clocking a time of 1:11.28. The filly is trained by Carla Gaines.

Richard Barton, who initiated Bodexpress' stud career at his Barton Thoroughbreds farm in California, also bred Hot Girl Walk, who is out of Awesome Again winner Awesome Mama, a descendant of stakes winner and producer Mama Nadine (A.P. Indy). Hot Girl Walk now boasts two victories in three career starts, amassing earnings of $117,000.

Bodexpress, an 8-year-old son of Bodemeister, has a strong racing record with four graded stakes appearances, including a win in the 2020 Clark Stakes (G1) and a second-place finish in the Florida Derby (G1). Throughout his 17 races, he achieved a 4-4-3 record, amassing earnings of $694,600.

So far, Bodexpress has sired six winners and stands out among 11 North American freshman sires with a stakes winner to his name. He stood for a fee of $3,500 this year at Pleasant Acres Stallions in Morriston, Florida.
