The Fillies and Mares Preferred on Wednesday, April 17, at The Raceway at the Western Fair District saw Major League N (Gotta Go Cullen) win her first point since February as she led at every station.
On the shoddy track, Ed Hensley led her to fractions of :28.1 and :59 until Laila Blue (Travis Henry) surged ahead of her going by the stands. Laila Blue increased the pace to three-quarters in 1:27.4, applying pressure to the leader.
When Exotic Dragon (Travis Cullen) tried to close up the rail, Major League N held her two lengths behind as they rounded the last turn, but the attacker continued to challenge. Exotic Dragon outran the other two contenders and closed the gap to just three-quarters of a length, but Major League N prevailed in 1:57.2 thanks to a strong finish.
Laila Blue trailed the winner by a length and a half in third place, followed by Exotic Dragon in second.
Ashleigh Hensley's Major League N is currently two out of ten for the year. The 11-year-old Australian import from 2019 has won 39 of 163 starts and made $383,335 in earnings. The mare belongs to Ashleigh and Ed Hensley.
On the team, driving winners Garrett Rooney and Colin Kelly both claimed three victories.
Racing resumes at the Raceway at the Western Fair District on Friday, April 19 at 5:50 p.m. EDT.
