James MacDonald Secures Five Wins at Mohawk on Saturday

On Saturday, March 9th, driver James MacDonald showcased his prowess at Woodbine Mohawk Park by participating in all ten races. Hailing from Guelph, Ontario, MacDonald clinched victory in half of these races, triumphing in five.

The standout moment of the evening unfolded during the sixth race, a high-stakes $28,000 event catering to horses who hadn't won over $27,000 in their last five starts. MacDonald's adept handling guided Sometime Somewhere, a seven-year-old bay pacing gelding sired by Somebeachsomewhere out of Say Anything, to an impressive win.

Positioned fifth initially, Sometime Somewhere made a strategic move to overtake the frontrunners, eventually crossing the finish line in 1:51.3, comfortably ahead of competitors The Longest Yard and Cold Creek Queso.

Owned by Robert Jones from Stony Plain, Alberta, Sometime Somewhere, trained by Richard Moreau, celebrated its 27th career win and surpassed $300,000 in earnings following this remarkable victory.

MacDonald's winning streak commenced earlier in the evening as he steered Points North, a nine-year-old gelding by Somebeach Somewhere and Northwest Hanover, to victory in the second race with the fastest time of the night, 1:50.2. The crowd favorite, Points North, returned $4.90 to win, delighting the bettors.

The next race saw Ballykeel Painter, a talented contender by Dali out of Boom Ballykeelbabe, setting a new personal best of 1:54.2 under MacDonald's expert guidance, rewarding backers with a $24.70 payout.

Continuing his winning streak, MacDonald secured another victory in the seventh race with Nazare, a four-year-old bay gelding sired by Sweet Lou out of Butchy Beach, crossing the line in 1:53 and paying $3.90 to win.

In the penultimate race of the evening, MacDonald's skilful handling of Beyond Bettor, a seven-year-old bay gelding by Bettors Delight and Somethinincredible, led to a decisive win in 1:52.3, offering a $4.50 payout to enthusiastic punters who predicted a victory for the gelding.
