Grit N Grace (Im The Pied Piper) broke her maiden in the first Lady Crocus division for three-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday, July 20, as harness racing returned to Miami Fair. The filly sat in the pocket until the third quarter, then swung out and surged to the front, storming clear by 11 lengths to win easily in 1:58.4. Lazar Mania (Michel Rey) held off Im Outrageous Too (Richard Remillard) in the battle for second place.
Grit N Grace debuted with a time of 2:07.4 at The Loop on July 6, finishing in second place. Lorraine Rey trains, owns, and bred the sophomore filly.
In the second Lady Crocus division, Choozetocruise (Labretta) captured victory in a similarly impressive performance. Remillard piloted the three-year-old to her second straight win with a wire-to-wire effort, clocked in 1:58.4. Chasin Rainbows (Dean Rey) finished second, with Is He Watching (Michel Rey) completing the on-stride finishers in the field of four.
Choozetocruise is perfect in two starts at three after a winless rookie year, having earned $11,610 in eight-lifetime outings. Trainer Trevor Williams acquired the filly in May.
Williams also secured victories with Texasdrifter (Sixdaysontheroad, driven by Marc Fillion, in 2:00.1) and Shots Fired (Custard The Dragon, driven by Michel Rey, in 1:58.1) for a training triple.
Miami Fair will host another racing card on Saturday, July 27.
