Lambert Becomes the 34th Recipient of the Galbreath Award

The University of Louisville's Equine Industry Program has announced that David Lambert will receive the John W. Galbreath Award for Outstanding Entrepreneurship in the Equine Industry, marking him as the 34th recipient of this prestigious honour. Lambert will officially receive the award on Thursday, December 5.

Originally from England, Lambert earned his bachelor's degree in veterinary science from the University of Liverpool. He began his career in private veterinary practice and with the United States Equestrian Team before establishing Equine Analysis Systems in 1987 in Midway, Kentucky.

In 2019, Lambert introduced StrideSAFE, an innovative wearable sensor technology designed to track a horse's high-speed movements and analyse data to potentially identify physical issues that might lead to serious injuries. StrideSAFE has since incorporated cutting-edge sensor technology and data from Australia’s StrideMasterSM and has been implemented in 11 racetracks across the United States, including all racetracks in Kentucky.

"I have dedicated my life to studying racehorse physiology, gathering extensive data and insights along the way. With the rising focus on equine and rider safety, developing this technology felt like a natural progression," Lambert stated. "Receiving this award is a tremendous honour for both myself and my team, who work diligently behind the scenes to create a positive influence."

Gwen Davis, owner of Davis Innovation, LLC and a consultant for StrideSAFE, praised Lambert in her nomination: "Throughout my years of providing marketing support to various clients in the Thoroughbred racing industry, I have never met anyone with as much vision, intelligence, and dedication towards the welfare of Thoroughbred racehorses as Dr. David Lambert. I am proud to be associated with this initiative and with Dr Lambert himself, who serves as an inspiration to all committed to ensuring the safety of horses and jockeys while safeguarding the industry's future."

The Galbreath Award is bestowed by a committee of faculty from the Forcht Center for Entrepreneurship within the UofL College of Business and is administered by the UofL Equine Industry Program. The award bears the name of the late John W. Galbreath, a self-made individual known for his success in both business and equestrian pursuits.
