Malevolent Is Victorious

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Malevolent (Malicious) continued his unbeaten streak with an impressive victory at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino in Charlottetown on Wednesday evening (August 14), during the prestigious Old Home Week. The two-year-old pacing colt, driven by trainer Paul Langille, showcased his talent by dominating the $15,480 Atlantic Sires Stakes A-division, finishing the race in a swift 1:56.2 with a remarkable closing quarter of 27.3 seconds.

With this victory, Malevolent improves to three wins from three starts for his owners, Debbie Francis and Rosanne Langille. Following him in the race were Sergeant Crowley, driven by Marc Campbell, in second place, and Saulsbrook Rockruf, piloted by Brodie MacPhee, securing third.

In another $15,480 A-division for two-year-old pacing colts, Phil My Beer (Shanghai Phil, Campbell) emerged victorious, setting a time of 1:58.2. This win came from the Landon Campbell training stable, with owners including Brady Doyle, Ryan MacLeod, Kent MacDonald, and Brent Campbell. Like A King, driven by Barrieau, finished in second, while All My Lovin (David Dowling) came in third.

The $6,000 B-divisions also featured noteworthy performances, with Flamin Fredy (Corey MacPherson) winning in 1:59.4, Bettim Special K (Campbell) clocking in at 1:59.2, Starship SLX (Dowling) finishing in 2:02.3, and Prince Malicious (Jason Hughes) taking the win in 1:56.4.

Marc Campbell had a stellar evening, securing four victories throughout the program, further solidifying his lead in the Francis McIsaac Memorial Standings for the top driver of Old Home Week.

Trainer-driver Paul Langille also enjoyed a successful night, achieving a triple with his entries.

Live racing continues on Thursday evening at 6 P.M. with the Atlantic Sires Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies, adding to the excitement of this festive week in harness racing.
