McKulick Tops Fasig-Tipton November Sale at $6 Million

The 2024 Fasig-Tipton November Sale in Lexington showcased a lively international market, though it narrowly missed surpassing $100 million in total sales, ending with a gross of $93.9 million. Twenty-five mares sold for over $1 million each, consistent with last year, while nine fetched over $2 million and four exceeded $3 million.

Yoshiyuki Ito's Grand Stud emerged as the top buyer, securing the sale's highlight, McKulick (GB) by Frankel, for $6 million. This Grade I-winning mare was purchased from Elite by agent Emmanuel de Seroux after intense bidding. Ito's purchases also included Surge Capacity, another Grade I winner, for $3.6 million. Japan's influence was strong, with additional buyers from Northern Farm and Shadai Farm contributing to the robust trade.

Hill 'n' Dale consigned eight million-dollar mares, adding to a competitive market for high-quality offerings. While weanling sales started slow, the top foal, sired by champion Flightline, sold for $675,000.

Despite selective buyer interest, Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning, Jr. was pleased with the broad participation, especially from Japan, Europe, and Australia. “We have a goal for next year, having just missed the $100 million mark,” he remarked, expressing optimism for continued growth.
