Merriman Excels with an Impressive Eight Victories

Nine-time leading dash champion, Aaron Merriman, showcased his dominance on Monday, February 12, effortlessly securing eight victories at MGM Northfield Park.

Merriman, who had already clinched his seventh consecutive Northfield Park driving title in December, commenced the night of triumph aboard Archery Seelster, trained by Randy Bendis, to seal the early double.

Despite a minor setback at the top of the stretch, Speedy Dominic A, under the guidance of trainer Braiden Rhoades, made an impressive comeback, securing a remarkable win. Rhoades and Merriman combined forces once again in a later race, as Vibrent Kally fearlessly claimed the lead shortly after the first quarter, ultimately triumphing by a margin of three-quarters of a length in a time of 1:56.4.

In the highly anticipated $24,324 Open Handicap Trot, Merriman expertly steered The Great Emotion to a commanding 3-1/4-length victory, with trainer Cassandra Lecourt at the helm. The four-year-old son of Lookslikeachpndale patiently trailed behind Fashion Chocolate before making a strategic move at the halfway mark, ultimately cruising to an impressive victory in 1:55.4.

Merriman continued his winning streak in the subsequent race, guiding Bobbie N Poppie, trained by Art McIlmurray, to another flawless trip, securing victory by a half-length in 1:59.4.

The night concluded spectacularly  as Merriman secured three consecutive victories in the Late Pick-4. He partnered with trainer Katie Remmerswaal, guiding Lake Charles to triumph, followed by Zeus Is Rocking for Whitney Johnson, and Tap Tap Tap for Virginia Wilcox.

With the accumulation of eight wins in a single night, Merriman's total for the year now stands at an impressive 45 wins, leading the likes of Billy Davis Jr. (31) and Chris Lems (21) in the driver's standings.
